Zalgo Text Generator: Glitch and Cursed Text You Can Copy

Zalgo text is ordinary text with combining diacritical marks stacked onto each letter. Unicode defines these marks in the block U+0300–U+036F: accents, tildes, hooks and bars that are meant to sit on a single base letter, one at a time. A zalgo text generator attaches several of them to every character, above, through and below, and the renderer draws them all. The base letters are still there underneath, which is why the text remains searchable and why stripping the marks recovers the original.

This generator draws from 41 marks that sit above the letter, 11 that strike through it and 46 that hang below. The intensity slider, 1 to 12, sets roughly how many marks each letter gets; the three direction toggles decide where they go. Marks above and below make the text tall and creepy; marks through the middle keep it on one line and closer to a strikethrough, which is what the gaming presets use so a name still fits on a scoreboard.

The output is deterministic: the same text at the same settings produces the same result every time, so a username you copy today can be regenerated tomorrow.

Roblox usernames accept letters, digits and one underscore, so zalgo text cannot go there. Display names accept a wider range, but the chat filter strips or replaces characters it does not recognise, and combining marks are routinely among them: what you paste as glitch text in Roblox chat usually comes out as plain letters, or does not send. The honest advice is to try a light setting, level 1 to 3 with only the middle marks, in a display name, and to expect chat to reject it. This generator cannot change what the filter does.

Any field that accepts free text and uses a system font will show cursed text correctly: social bios and captions, messaging apps, documents, email, web forms. It breaks in three places. Handles and usernames, which are ASCII-only on every major platform. Game clients with their own fonts or chat filters, as above. And anywhere text is measured by height, such as a comment box that clips overflow, where tall marks get cut off. Keep the text you actually need people to read, links especially, in normal letters.
